Gary Humphreys
BA Dip Arch
Group Director

Director in charge of our Milton Keynes and Reading offices, Gary has been with the Practice since 1996 and a Director since 1999. With experience in many sectors, Gary has completed prestigious schemes at Chalk Farm, London; a mixed leisure hotel and retail development at Chichester and industrial developments for Gazeley Properties.

He looks after Abbey Homes from initial site feasibilities through to building and is also responsible for key clients Aldi Foodstores and Focus/Wickes on long term roll out programmes across the south and midlands as well as a new Sainsbury’s store in Barking.

Gary enjoys spending quality time with the family in his free time.

Sarah Charlesworth
MRICS MSc MAPM CMaPS
Director

Leading the HPM team in the Wakefield office, Sarah is a chartered member of RICS and holds full membership with APM and APS. She has been with The Harris Group since 2001 and is actively involved with the contractual and quality management of the five offices of the business to help direct and grow the company in a structured way.

She started out in the construction industry in 1997 at the CITB National Construction College in Norfolk, gaining practical hands-on experience and academic knowledge through the course and various work placements in civil engineering, quantity surveying and building surveying. Sarah has completed a degree in Architecture and Masters Degree in Project Management.

Fell running, road running, spinning, socialising and being a Mum takes up Sarah’s free time so when she’s not working hard, she’s playing hard.

Mark Hendy
BSc (Hons) SIIRSM IMaPS
Associate

Mark is a motivated, friendly, proactive Project Manager and Principal Designer with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Decisive, highly adaptable to change and embracing new ideas and challenges; Mark is SIIRSM accredited, an incorporated APS member. Now looking to further his professional accreditation Mark is working towards RICS membership. Mark has experience in construction, design and surveying since 2004 and holds a BSc with honours in Architectural Computer Aided Technology.

In his free time Mark enjoys off-roading on his mountain bike and celebrating these efforts with a drink in the local.

Steven Blackhurst
MCIAT IMaPS

Steve is a confident and practical chartered Architectural Technologist and Principal Designer in the Wakefield office. Steve started working in the construction industry in 2007 and trained in CDM Regulations in 2012, continually updating his knowledge with various CPD courses. Steve holds an HNC in Construction in the Built Environment and is gaining experience in project management running multiple projects on various sites throughout the country for Magnet and other clients.

In his free time Steve enjoys spending time with his two young children on family days out.

 

 

Marisa Rigby
Tech IOSH, AaPS

Marisa is a positive, friendly and helpful CDM Adviser and Principal Designer in the Wakefield office. Marisa has worked within the construction industry since 2015 and since then has gained her NEBOSH General and Construction, Tech IOSH, AaPS and is currently undertaking her NEBOSH Diploma. Marisa has successfully delivered the Principal Designer role for a variation of Clients ranging from large developers to small refurbishments and is continuously providing her Clients with the help and advice they require.

 

In her spare time, she loves anything outdoors such as going on hikes and on camping trips all over the country and loves to socialise and meet new people along the way.

Derek Sillence
Grad IOSH MIIRSM AaPS AIEMA Grad MCIWM

Derek is a dedicated CDM Principal Designer and Health, Safety & Environmental Manager who has a background in Electrical Engineering and started working in the construction and maintenance industries in 1967. Derek feels passionately about his Health & Safety role, holds NEBOSH General and Construction certification and has worked for many organisations including a large high street retailer, private sector companies and building contractors. Using his experience of health & safety in this role as CDM Principal Adviser, Derek brings a wealth of knowledge to the company which he shares with all members of staff in the Harris Group and regularly carries out design workshops and CDM site audits for HPM projects in liaison with site managers and design teams.

Derek has been a coin collector for a number of years and holds sets of coins representing Nelson, Princess Diana and Winston Churchill. He enjoys DIY and can often be found in his garden building something or other with a glass of beer in one hand and a hammer in the other.

Chris Ferguson
MCIAT Tech IOSH MCIOB CMaPS

Chris is a personable and relaxed Project Manager and CDM Principal Designer. He started out in the construction industry in 1977 and is a chartered Architectural Technologist holding a Higher TEC certificate in Building Studies (Architectural), NEBOSH National General and Construction certification, Fire Safety and Risk Management NEBOSH National certification and is a member of the CIOB.

A long standing Leeds United fan, Chris also enjoys the cinema and theme parks while being a devoted Dad to 3 girls.

Kate Archer
MSc

Kate started work as an architectural technician and holds an MSc in Architectural Technology & Design and undergraduate degree in Human Geography & Planning. Kate is a valuable part of the project management and architectural team working on fit out and refurbishment projects and travelling to sites throughout the UK.

Kate’s free time is either spent indoors drawing & painting or out with friends at local gigs, sampling craft beers and ales. She’s a country bumpkin at heart and enjoys long country walks and camping – whatever the weather.

Donna Foster

Donna is our enthusiastic and bubbly administrator who is actively involved with the Principal Designer services provided from our Wakefield office. Donna attended a RIBA Principal Designer course in 2016, passed the APS course on the PD’s role in 2017 and often attends project sites during the construction phase to assist with CDM audits.

Donna is passionate about food. She loves eating out and equally enjoys experimenting with food in the kitchen. She also loves a glass of vino or two!

Reading Office Team

Stephen Innes
BSc (Hons) MRICS
Technical Director

Associate Director leading the Reading Office HPM team, Stephen joined the Harris Group in 2005 to set up the Reading Office. Trained as a quantity surveyor, over the years he has undertaken numerous Project Management and Contract Administration roles in various sectors.

Stephen has worked in Local Authority, spent time managing an office in the Middle East for a large international consultancy, before working in London in a practice specialising in office development.

Finally settling in Reading working for a practice dealing with various retail clients, in particular Wickes Properties, involved in their expansion programme over many years.

On moving to HPM, his work with Wickes continued for a number of years along with a major store extension programme for Aldi in the South East. Now also heavily involved in the new Aldi store expansion programme for a new region in South East, which is currently being developed.

Paul Weller
IMaPS

Paul is a dedicated CDM Principal Designer in the Reading office where he works with Clients, Designers and Contractors to coordinate design and construction health and safety best practice to ensure compliance to the CDM 2015 Regulations. Paul holds NEBOSH General and Construction certification and has been involved in construction work for over 39 years. Since 2003 he has been a CDM specialist working for some of the largest international companies ensuring compliance of documentation and site management to the CDM Regs 1996, 2007 and now 2015, and as a International Quality Manager for a FT100 Company working in UK and Europe he has a full understanding of the importance of the implementation of quality systems within large companies.

Amar Braich
BSc

Amar graduated from Birmingham City University in 2010 after completing a BSc degree in Quantity Surveying. Amar has worked as Project QS for a residential developer where he gained experience at site level and managing a portfolio of 120+ properties, for a specialist contractor where he worked on a number of refurbishment and conversation projects and for a large multi-disciplinary consultancy where he worked on multiple large scale commercial projects.

Amar is a keen drummer and has travelled internationally as part of a band.

Neena Corran
BSc (Hons) MSc

Neena spent four years at the University of East Anglia completing an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics, graduating in the summer of 2000. Neena spent four years working as a research scientist within a large agrochemical company. During her time in research Neena started a part time Post Graduate Diploma in Quantity Surveying at South Bank University, converting it to a Master’s Degree in 2004. In 2004 Neena began her career as a Quantity Surveyor with Rider Levett Bucknall working primarily in the Retail Sector. After a brief career break to bring up children, Neena joined Rowney Sharman where she worked on retail and private residential projects. Neena joined the Harris Project Management team in 2016 and has predominantly worked on Retail Projects .In addition Neena is currently working towards her associate RICS membership.

In her free time Neena likes off road cycling, has participated in numerous Moonwalks and likes attending as many concerts as she can.

Barry Cameron
Tech IOSH

Barry has a background of 14 years’ service in the Royal Navy, progressing through the ranks to Petty Officer in Royal Navy Police.  He has continuously served and trained in fast paced and pressurised working environments in the UK and abroad.  On leaving the Royal Navy, Barry is now establishing himself firmly within the role of Principal Designer within the construction sector.

Mariusz Chmielewski
BSc

Mariusz spent four years at the Oxford Brookes University completing an undergraduate degree in Quantity Surveying, graduating in the summer of 2014. Rafaela Andreou

Rafaela graduated in the summer of 2014 from University of Reading, completing 3 years an undergraduate degree in Mathematics. In 2015, Rafaela spent one more year at University of Reading completing a postgraduate degree in Construction Cost Management. In September 2016, Rafaela began working in the construction industry for a construction company in London, working on a project in Water & Wastewater sector. In May 2017, Rafaela moved to a construction consultancy company in Reading, mainly on residential projects for 2 years. In May 2019, Rafaela began working at Harris Project Management.

 

Georgia Andreou

Georgia joined the HPM Reading team as Quantity Surveyor on 7th October 2019.

Georgia joined the HPM Reading team as Quantity Surveyor on 7th October 2019.
